HELISKIING VIDEO

Danilo Garin, is responsible for the heli ski base in Valgrisenche and works as a mountain guide in the Aosta Valley, Italy. In addition he has worked for one of the most renowned heli ski operations in Canada Thierry Gasser, based in Verbier, Switzerland, has worked for and skied with the majority of the heliski operations worldwide during his last 15 years as a mountain guide.

Nicolas Clerc, has 15 years experience within the travel and tourism industry. Previously the manager of ski tour operations in the Swiss Alps, he is currently the managing director of a Swiss financial services company. Filip Amram, Turkish industrialist of Istanbul. Filip is passionate about heliski and sport in general. Having experienced some heliski trips in Canada, he also wished to develop heliskiing in his country. In our profession as mountain guides, Danilo and Thierry have over the course of the years, been able to observe first hand the advantages and disadvantages of various heli ski destinations as well as assess the reactions, requirements, desires and priorities of their clients.

With this in mind and following numerous discussions regarding our personal experiences we began investigating the possibility of opening our own operation, based on the following criteria :
- Proximity to Europe so as to minimise the length of time taken to get to the base as well as the avoidance of jetlag,
- A mountain range of sufficient size and with surrounding summits of greater than 3000 m,
- Proximity to the sea to ensure regular snow cover and a stable base,
- Small groups of heli skiers / boarders, max 4 groups of 4 to 5 people per week per base,
- Use of guides and pilots who have extensive experience in this discipline,
- Option of a private week with the exclusive use of a helicopter and a guide at your disposal.

Where do we ski?
The location is the Kaçkar range, North East Turkey, close to the Black Sea. We have chosen an awesome stretch, some 100 km long by 35 km wide. The highest summit is 3.900 m with the average vertical drop between 700 m and 1.200 m. The range is reputed for its good snow and the stability of the snow cover due to the proximity of the ocean.

The second is located to the south east of the country within the Taurus Mountains in the Aladağ Range, in close proximity to the Mediterranean Sea. The highest summit in this sector has an altitude of 3.700 m with a greater average vertical drop of 1.000 m to 1.500 m. The Taurus Mountains, whilst not as steep as the Kaçkar range, benefit from more sun.

Why Turkey?
We chose Turkey for its proximity to Europe and the abundance of mountain ranges that cover at least half the country. The most well know peak, Mount Ararat, reaches 5.165 m. The majority of the summits in this area are above 3.500 m and these regions benefi t from regular snowfalls throughout winter. You will be captivated by the beauty of the land and the friendliness of the people. Proximity, altitude, snow stability, conviviality, exclusivity and highly experienced guides and pilots - this is what we offer to you, at Europe's door.

Our structure

STAFF
3 helicopter pilots, 2 mechanics, 8 mountain guides, 2 masseuses and physiotherapist, 1 translator, 1 skiman
We've taken special care in the selection of the staff. Both the pilots and the guides have a long and wide experience in heliskiing. It is at the same time a strong point for our company and the guarantee of your safety.

Mountain Guides : All guides are members of the UIAGM (International Union of Mountain Guides). Experienced, polyvalent and complementary in their training. They all have a wide experience in heliskiing. They have worked in several other heliski operations around the world. Some of them are also helicopter pilots, professional rescuers or doctors.
The Pilots : They have the same quality of experience and performance level; they are Swiss and work regularly for heliski operations. Some of them are also mountain guides.

THE HELICOPTERS
Ecureuil B2 or B3, belong to the company Air Zermatt. They are very performant in the mountains and have a 5 passenger capacity.

GUIDES
The guides who will accompany you are experienced, versatile UIAGM guides and complementary in their training. Above all, they all are very experienced in heliskiing. They have worked on other heliski operations before joining our team in Turkey. Some of them are also helicopter pilots or professional lifeguards.

* Danilo Garin is a guide in Valgrisenche (Italy). He directs heliskiing in the valley. He has also worked for various Heliski operations in Canada.
* Gerald Maret is a guide in Lourtier (CH). He shares his time between his job as a guide and his work as a professional lifeguard in Sion. He is also a helicopter pilot.
* Gerald is responsible for the security and rescue operations from our base.
* Jean Troillet is a guide and Himalayist of international reputation. Aside from his numerous expeditions and adventures around the planet, Jean has worked more than 15 years in Heliski bases of CMH in Canada. He lives in Fouly (CH).
* Maurizio Follini is a guide and helicopter pilot in St-Moritz (CH). Maurizio has also accompanied his clients in various heliski operations in Canada and Uzbekistan.
* Erhard Lorétan is a guide in Charmey (CH). He is world renowned, being only the third man to have climbed all 8,000 meter summits (14) of our planet.
* George Robby; for George, heliski goes on all year! He was born in St-Moritz (CH), lives in Queenstown (NZ) where he manages his own heliski base. During the winter he joins our heliski base in Turkey at the beginning of the season, before going back to his second heliski operation in the Canadian North.
* Alain Payot is a guide in Chamonix (F), he has been practicing heliski for several years. Alain has brought his clients to several heliski destinations. He especially likes heliski in South America!
* Olivier Houillot is a guide in Courchevel (F) ; he has regularly guided his clients to various heliski destinations. He also works for a heliski operation in the Himalayas.
* Alessandro Mezzavilla is a guide in Valsavaranche (I) ; he loves ski-alpinism and mountain rescue. He also is one of the guides supporting heliskiing in Valgrisenche.
* Abele Blanc is a guide in Valdotain (I), he has climbed 13 summits of 8,000 meters in altitude. He is also one of the guides of the heliski base in Valgrisenche.
* Gabriel Besson is a guide in Verbier (CH). Apart from his work as a guide, Gaby was a rescuer at the Maison du Sauvetage. He now works as a helicopter pilot.
* Herve Thivierge is a guide in Chamonix (F) ; he has worked for several years in Canada is a large heliski operation.
* Thierry Gasser is a guide in Verbier (CH). He has worked in this domain for more than 15 years. He also regularly assures security during ski or snowbard film shootings.

PACKAGES

STANDARD PACKAGE
We take a maximum of 4 groups of 4-5 people per week. Each group is led by a guide. We've limited the number of people to allow you to live your dream in the best conditions. One helicopter takes the groups in rotation. 6 days heli skiing, 30.500 vertical m with 20.000 guaranteeds.

PRIVATE PACKAGE
We can welcome 2 "private" groups per week. Each group has its own helicopter. It's led by two guides and its maximum capacity is 8 people. The benefits of this formula are the following : Great mobility in your movements, Unlimited choice of valleys and hills, Liberty of modifying your schedule, Choice of accommodations. ( Private groups may change accommodations for one or several nights. A comfortable mountain inn, located on the opposite side of the massif, allows you to share unforgettable and authentic moments with villagers isolated from the rest of the world during the winter.)

We can welcome 2 "private" groups per week. Each group has its own helicopter. It's led by two guides and its maximum capacity is 8 people. 7 days heli skiing, with 6 flight hours for groups of 1- 3 people and 9 flight hours for groups of 4-8 people.

HELISKI TOURING PACKAGE
We offer you a ski touring week of a new kind. The heliski structure gives you more comfort and mobility. The helicopter allows you to discover a new valley every day. Besides, you can start your ski touring day by a descent. It's at your disposal to bring you back at the hotel at the end of the day or to drop you for some nice runs in powder snow. It's also your "guardian angel" during your stay.

6 days skitouring including 6 helicopter hours. Groups of 8 people. Minimum 1 group of 8 people per week. We offer you a ski touring week of a new kind. SECURITY

Briefing
Each stay begins with a briefing of safety considerations for an enjoyable heliskiing experience. Every skier receives a leaflet with all needed information. The procedure of loading and unloading the helicopter are part of this briefing. Practical session will follow the theory in which you'll practice using your avalanche transceivers.

Your safety equipment
1 Airbag ABS backpack with a shovel and a probe, 1 Ortovox (avalange tranceiver), 1 safety Memo (small recap regarding the procedure in the case of an avalanche)

Guide's equipment
First aid kit including a neck brace and inflatable splints, 1 radio and 1 satellite phone to communicate with the other guides, pilots and the base.

Equipment at the helicopter
A bag with : 1 comprehensive first aid kit, Ventilation balloons, oxygen bottle.

Equipment at the base
First aid station is setup at the base, including evacuation stretchers, vacuum splints and stretchers, neck braces, oxygen, ventilation balloons, security blankets etc., Pharmacy with an extensive range of medications for small as well as more serious health problems, Avalanche equipment with shovels and probes,

ACCOMMODATION
You will place with the Hotel Haşimoğlu - Ayder.

The rooms are small but comfortable, with : An ensuite bathroom and shower, A telephone, Satellite Tv, Mini bar and hairdryer are provided
In the hotel, you can enjoy the use of a Turkish bath, a whirpool and an internet connection.

Other activities
A thermal spring spa with water at 40 degrees C is located adjacent to the hotel. The perfect way to end a long days skiing. Visit the surrounding region or a historical village on the edge of the Black Sea. Snow shoe, Ski touring.

YOUR EQUIPMENT

Clothing : As the climate is similar to that of the Alps, your usual skiwear will be adequate for your week's heliskiing.

As the helicopter rides are shorter than those on chairlifts and it is not cold inside the helicopter, you will find that you do not get as cold as you do when skiing in a station. Your gloves however will become wet far quicker as you need to clear the snow off your skis and boards in order to pack them into the ski pods. We advise you to take one or two extra pairs of gloves as well as a pair of mittens.

Bring along strong sun protection and don't forget a decent pair of goggles, the powder is deep and even in good weather ordinary sunglasses will rapidly become clogged with powder.

Ski or snowboard : We recommend you adapt your technical equipment for powder skiing and either use the skis supplied by the base or bring your own.
We do not supply snowboards, so please bring your own snowboard, adapted for powder conditions - the longer the better. Each base is equipped to be able to perform minor repairs to ski and snowboard equipment.

Shopping : A small shop at each base will be able to supply forgotten or lost equipment such as goggles, gloves, sunscreen, beanies,etc.

There are several ski resorts in Turkey, which offer skiing facilities spanning from November to May. Most of these resorts are in the forest areas on mountains of moderate height. Nevertheless, they are great places to visit, no matter whether you are a novice, an amateur or an expert. There are slopes of different ranges - with baby slopes for beginners to the more difficult slopes at altitudes of 2200 to 3100 meters for professionals.

Expert ski instructors are available at all resorts to teach the beginners on the lower slopes. Shops abound in Turkey where skiing gear can be bought. Most hotels also have facility for hiring skiing boots, skis and even clothes. In addition, the hotels also have ski lifts and teleskiing for its guests.

With an average altitude of 1000 m, the Anatolian peninsula is covered with North Anatolian Mountains (2587-3932 m) in the North and Toros (Taurus) Mountains (3086-4136 m) in the South. The Central and East Anatolian high plateaus are enchanted by extinct volcanic mountains such as Mt. Erciyes (3917 in) and Mt. Ağrı (5137 m).

During the normal winter conditions the height of the snow reaches approximately 3 meters, and covered with forests, the natural beauty of the mountainous areas is stunning.

ACTIVITIES

The skiing season is approximately the same period as that of other ski centers in Turkey. The Saklıbel Teleski and Piste: These have been prepared for guests who are amateur and medium-level skiers. The ski run is 1700 m in length. The Nadir Gez Teleski and Piste is preferred by professional skiers. On this run, the length of the teleski line is 900 m, the height of the final station 2450 m. and the difference in elevation 400 m.

The capacity is 600 skiers an hour and there is a full black 1600 m piste extending to the summit of Bakırlı Dağ. If you choose these runs, you extend the distance considerably and have the opportunity of skiing 3400 m. For snowboard enthusiasts, the pistes have magnificent powdered snow and natural location.

The pistes and their surroundings are of such beauty that they will provide moments which will never be erased from your memory.

ACCOMMODATION
With 477 detached houses, Saklıkent has the appearance of a real urban complex and also offers pension and restaurant services. Sarıkamış ski center is located near Sarıkamış, 60 km from Kars in Eastern Turkey. The nearest airport is 50 km away.

Sarıkamış, "Turkey's Insburg", which has got one of the longest skiing pastes of the World, is 50 km from Kars Airport. The duration of the skiing season is 120 days a year. The altitude in the skiing area of Sarıkamış is 2200-2634 m and covered by pine forest. The almost suitable skiing conditions are between 20 December and 20 March. The average snow fall is 1.5 m in normal winter conditions.

One of the most important characteristics that distinguishes Sarıkamış from other pastes is the type of the snow and its natural beauties. The crystal snow, which is extremely convenient for skiing sport and found only in the Alps, is found in Sarıkamış. Although the most part of the year is sunny, the snow remains the same as the first day and gives the skiers the pleasure of skiing in safety. We say 'in safety' because there is no risk of avalanche in Sarıkamış.

Since the pastes are surrounded by the Scotch pine Forests, they are also guarded against the wind. Sarıçam Skiing Facilities, which is located very closed to Hotel Çamkar, is the largest skiing facility of Turkey and the third of the World with its computer equipped telesiege system with the capacity of 2400 pax per hour.

First lap is 2400m long and has an ideal slope for the beginners. There are 4 pastes in the second lap which has the length of 2200m. When you complete the piste of 7 km surrounded by Scotch pine forests, you will have completed the longest piste of Turkey.

In Cıbıltepe, which has the altitude of 2700 m, there are 2 laps with 5 pastes with suitable difficulty levels for all skiers. First lap is 2400 m long and has an ideal slope for the beginners. There are 4 pastes in the second lap which has the length of 2200 m. When you complete the piste of 7 km surrounded by Scotch pine forests, you will have completed the longest piste of Turkey.

Sarıkamış and the surrounding have suitable conditions for Alpine skiing, ski touring and cross country skiing. This center is equipped with 2 chairlifts and 1 T bar. Traditionally a hunting ground, Sarıkamış is an interesting yet small ski resort that is noted for its variety of tree-lined runs, Turkey’s longest piste and exceptional Alpine snow quality throughout the season. Located near the town of Kars in northeastern Turkey, Sarıkamış is an inexpensive ski destination which boasts quality accommodation.

Sarıkamış ski resort’s village is situated at 7,218 feet above sea level and there are well-qualified ski and snowboard instructors available to help you improve your skills and ski and snowboard equipment hire as well as retail and first-aid facilities.

There are nine pastes at Sarıkamış ski resort, each at different levels of the mountain. They are geared to all levels of skier and snowboarder ability and range from a few hundred feet in length to over one mile, while the four-mile run here is Turkey’s longest. Supplying the slopes are two chairlifts and one t-bar at a rate of over 1,800 people per hour.

There are four hotels with a total of over 1,000 beds available at Sarıkamış ski resort, with Hotel Çamkar being particularly noted for its quality ski instructors and convenient ski lift. There is not much in the way of apres-ski entertainment at Sarıkamış ski resort, but the town and nearby Kars have additional options for both nightlife and accommodation.

Sarıkamış ski resort’s ski season runs from mid-November to mid-April and has its best snow between December and March, while discounts are available at the beginning and end of the season. The most convenient travel option for getting to Sarıkamış is to fly to Kars and then take the bus.

SKIING
Sarıkamış Ski Resort located in northeast Turkey, has the longest piste in the country and also boasts consistent crystal snow, usually only seen at ski destinations in the Alps. The skiing and snowboarding is through pine forests and the views and scenery are incredible, while the resort is well equipped with good facilities and accommodation options here are reasonable.

Nine pastes are available for skiers and snowboarders including everyone from learners to experienced sliders. The pastes rise to altitudes over 8,530 feet above sea level and include Turkey’s longest at a whopping four miles. Additionally, cross-country skiing is also available at Sarıkamış.

Three ski lifts including a t-bar and two chairlifts provide slope access for nearly 2,000 people per hour.

For those who also enjoy non-piste skiing and snowboarding, ski touring, Alpine skiing and horse-driven sleigh rides are available, while saunas and other wellness facilities are available at the hotels, as is the bulk of apres-ski entertainment.

For a small resort, Sarıkamış comes with commendable facilities including quality equipment hire, a ski and snowboard shop, first-aid station and qualified ski and snowboard instructors, while over 1,000 beds are available at four hotels on the slopes and another 2,500 in nearby Kars.

TRANSPORT
Sarıkamış Ski Resort is 900 miles east of Istanbul and more than 620 miles east of Ankara in the region of Kars, northeast Turkey. Although there are alternative travel options for getting to and from Sarıkamış that involve driving, trains and buses, flying to Kars and transferring by car or bus is the most convenient and feasible option.

If you intend on driving to Sarıkamış Ski Resort from Istanbul’s Atatürk International Airport, you will have to allow two days traveling time. The route goes via Ankara on the O4 motorway, from where the D-200 highway travels east to Altköy and the D-100 and D-080 continue on towards Sarıkamış.
Trains run from Istanbul to Sarıkamış via Ankara, Sivas and Erzurum, but the journey is arduous. Despite being one of the cheapest ways of reaching the resort, traveling by bus or train is not comfortable or fast.

Flying both to Istanbul and onto Erzurum or Kars is the best and fastest option. Istanbul receives many carriers and daily flights, and there are frequent services to Kars and Erzurum. Either airport offer bus transfers to Sarıkamış Ski Resort or you can drive yourself. Kars airport is 40 miles northeast of Sarıkamış, while Erzurum is 90 miles.

Taking a domestic flight to either Kars or Erzurum from Istanbul and then traveling to the resort by bus is the most practical way to get to Sarıkamış.

Palandöken is an attractive ski resort rising from the authentic atmosphere of Erzurum, a historical town in Eastern Anatolia. The mountain, which is covered with snow for five months of the year, boast Turkey's longest and widest range of pastes. The blend of challenging skiing and beautiful mountain views makes for an exhilarating skiing holiday.

Although skiing is the main attraction of the area, non-skiers will still benefit from the apres-ski entertainment, the clear, mountain air and the beautiful views of the surrounding scenery.

Located on the northern slopes of the Palandöken Mountain in the Eastern Anatolia Region, southwest of the town of Erzurum. The distance between the center and Erzurum is 5 km and takes 10 minutes by car. The nearest airport is 20 minutes away. Transportation by plane to Erzurum is advised. Home to many international ski competitions, Palandöken ski resort in Eastern Turkey is one of Turkey’s best ski destinations, with its superb snow conditions, long runs and excellent facilities and accommodation options. Palandöken is situated on the northern slopes of the mountain which shares the same name and has an altitude in excess of 9,842 feet.

The resort village of Palandöken is situated at 7,218 feet and has commendable facilities including a ski school with highly qualified instructors, ski and snowboard equipment hire, first-aid station and a clinic. In addition, several of the hotels here have ski shops with an array of skiing merchandise for sale.

Palandöken receives a massive annual snow fall of around eight feet and there are 25 miles of well-groomed pastes in Palandöken and a 2,952-foot vertical, with three chairlifts and a t-bar providing slope access at a rate of 1,100 people per hour.

SKIING
Situated on the awesome Palandöken Mountain near Erzurum, Palandöken ski resort is a very accessible ski destination in remote Eastern Turkey, boasting numerous quality slopes and some enviable powder snow. Palandöken is well known among professional skiers and as a result it has excellent accommodation and services.

The 25 miles of slopes at Palandöken ski resort are some of the longest in Turkey and boast some spectacular terrain. The pastes mainly appeal to intermediate and experienced skiers and snowboarders, but there is also plenty of opportunity for all levels as well as cross-country terrain. Four ski lifts traverse the 2,952-foot vertical to supply the slopes a rate of up to 1,100 people per hour.

Alternative winter activities at Palandöken ski resort include Alpine skiing, ski touring and heliskiing, while various hotels at the village are well-equipped with wellness facilities such as Turkish baths, saunas, heated swimming pools and fitness centres. TRANSPORT
Located in Eastern Turkey more than 620 miles east of Istanbul, Palandöken ski resort is fortunate in being near to the city of Erzurum, which is the transport hub for eastern Turkey. Traveling by road, rail and air to Palandöken ski resort is possible, but flying to Erzurum and then transferring by bus or taxi to the resort is the most practical option.

Driving from Istanbul to Erzurum to Palandöken ski resort is a 2-day journey via the O4, D-200 and D-100 highways. If you have three days to spare, you could take the train to Istanbul and tackle the onward rail journey to Erzurum, which takes another 24 hours.

The only real option for getting to Palandöken from Istanbul a 90-minute flight to Erzurum airlines. Shuttles and taxis run to the city, from where various hotel buses are waiting to take you to the resort. If you are driving, take the D-100 six miles southeast to Erzurum, from where the D-950 heads southwest towards Palandöken ski resort.

ACTIVITIES
The Saklıkent Ski Resort is one hour from Antalya city center on the lower slopes of Mount Bakırlı which is 2547 m in height, and it is a corner of Antalya province and the world whose equal is rarely to be found with its suitability for winter and outdoor sports and its proximity to the city. The skiing season is approximately the same period as that of other ski centers in Turkey. The season opens at the end of December and provides enthusiasts with the chance to ski until the middle of April.

The special attraction of this centre is that in March and April one can ski in the mornings then drive down to the coast and swim in the warm waters of the Mediterranean in the afternoons.

The ski center is located 49 km west of Antalya on Beydağları. The skiing area is at an altitude of 1850 meters and the ski season is short. The thickness of the snow is about 50 to 100 cm. There is a pension (boarding-house) with 14 beds, a restaurant with an 80-person capacity, a cafeteria and countryside coffee houses. There are two T-bars with capacities of 240 and 340 people per hour, and the two slopes are rated with difficulty levels of easy and medium.

Saklıkent is 50 km west of the centre of Antalya, in the Beydağ mountain range, with an altitude of 2550 m. Because of its close proximity to Antalya, it is one of the few places in the world that people can ski in the mornings, then swim in the sea in the afternoon.

The altitude for the skiing areas is between 2000-2400 m, with a snow depth between 0.5-1 m and a short season. There are two T-bars, and two ski runs at easy/moderate level.

Accommodation is in the form of the small Bakırlı Motel and a number of private rental houses and chalets. The hotel comes with a restaurant and disco and there are also local coffee houses in Saklıkent offering apres-ski.

There are only a couple of runs at Saklıkent ski resort that will appeal to beginner and intermediate skiers and snowboarders. Two t-bar ski lifts provide slope access for hundreds of people per hour and rise to an altitude of 7,874 feet above sea level. Considering the resort’s proximity to the warm Mediterranean Sea, the snow quality is good.

Away from the slopes of Saklıkent ski resort is the obvious attraction of the Mediterranean coastline, which is less than an hour away by car. The town of Antalya itself is well worth exploring, with its wealth of mosques, monuments and museums. Be sure to visit Hadrian’s Gate, an entrance gate and Roman triumphal arch, while Clock Tower in nearby Kalekapısı Square is also a gem.

The ski season at Saklıkent ski resort runs from mid-December to April and has its best flurries of snow from mid-January to mid-March. Flying to Antalya and hiring a car is the most convenient way of getting to Saklıkent ski resort.

Saklıkent is only a small ski resort with few slopes, but it does boast a half-pipe.

The courses at Saklıkent ski resort rise to heights of 7,874 feet above sea level and are made accessible by two t-bar drag lifts that are able to carry hundreds of skiers and snowboarders per hour. There are two slopes here that cater for beginner and intermediate skiers as well as a half-pipe for keen snowboarders.

There isn't much in the way of alternative winter activities at Saklıkent ski resort and wellness facilities are also lacking here. Accommodation is provided by the small Bakırlı Motel at Saklıkent and a couple of pensions and chalets nearby, while apres-ski can be enjoyed at the hotel’s restaurant and disco, the coffee shops in Saklıkent and the numerous bars and nightclubs in nearby Antalya.

The best snow can be found in January and February during the December to April ski season at Saklıkent ski resort, while cheaper rates are on offer at the beginning and end of the ski season. The best way to get to and from Saklıkent is to fly to Antalya from Istanbul, from where you can hire a car. Buses and shuttles to the resort are infrequent and unreliable.

TRANSPORTATION
Saklıkent ski resort is located in the Beydağ mountain range, 416 miles south of Istanbul and 25 miles west of Antalya in southwest Turkey. There are few transport options for getting here, with driving from Istanbul or flying to Antalya and hiring a car being the most recommended means of getting here.

Traveling to Saklıkent ski resort by car is feasible from Istanbul and from Antalya airport. The drive from London is arduous, with a journey time of about five days. From Istanbul’s Atatürk International Airport, head east through Istanbul to Izmit and then south to Bilecik, from where the D-650 continues south to Antalya. From Antalya head west through Duraliler and Sinandeğirmeni before reaching Saklıkent.

It’s best to take a long distance bus to Antalya on arrival in Istanbul as trains only go as far as Isparta, 80 miles north of Saklıkent.

By far the best way to get to and from Saklıkent ski resort is to fly to Istanbul and then fly to Antalya. From Antalya airport you can reach Saklıkent ski resort directly by taxi or hire car. The drive from Antalya airport to Saklıkent is just over 30 miles via the D-650 Antalya bypass and the towns of Duraliler and Sinandeğirmeni.

The ski centre of Erciyes lies at 7,000 feet above sea level and facilities here include a ski school with qualified instructors, ski and snowboard equipment rentals, first-aid station and a clinic. Erciyes also boasts slope-side accommodation and coffee shops.

Erciyes ski resort has seven and a half miles of slopes that are suitable for all levels of ability ranging from beginners to advanced-level sliders. Two chairlifts and two t-bars provide access to the slopes, the longest of which is just over two miles and the highest being 10,170 feet. The snow is powdery at Erciyes ski resort, but it can sometimes be patchy on the pastes and high winds on the unprotected sides of the volcano can cause problems.

SKIING
The ski season at Erciyes ski resort runs from mid-November to mid-April and the best snow can be found between December and March, while cheaper rates are available at the season’s beginning and end. The most convenient means of transport to Erciyes ski resort is to fly to Kayseri and then take a bus direct to the resort.

Erciyes Ski Resort lies on the eastern face of Erciyes Volcano in central Turkey and boasts incredible powder off-piste and a number of pisted runs suitable for most levels of experience. The mountain itself is a wonderful sight and the resort village has just the right number of facilities, without being considered lavish.

Several pisted runs extend for seven and a half miles down the eastern face of the awesome Erciyes Volcano, the longest being two miles. The runs are suitable for beginners, intermediates and experienced skiers and snowboarders, while some off-piste areas will especially appeal to expert skiers. Four ski lifts carry up to 1,900 people per hour up the 3,115-feet vertical.

Alternative winter activities at Erciyes ski resort include ski touring, heliskiing and mountaineering; while for relaxation, the Erciyes Dedeman Hotel has a heated indoor swimming pool and a sauna. There are a couple of choices for apres-ski enjoyment at Erciyes, but Kayseri offers more suitable alternatives for party goers.

Equipment rentals, a ski school, clinic and first-aid centre make up the ski facilities at Erciyes, while accommodation here consists of two hostels and a well-equipped hotel. The Erciyes Dedeman Hotel at the base has 60 rooms and good facilities, while nearby Kayseri handles the overspill of skiers, with reasonable rates available.

Erciyes ski resort has the best snow in January and February and the cheapest rates in November and April, while the ski season runs from November to April. Flying to either Istanbul or Ankara and then taking a domestic flight to Kayseri, from where buses go to Erciyes ski resort, is the most practical travel option for getting here and away.

TRANSPORT
Erciyes Ski Center is located on the extinct volcanic mountain of Erciyes, which is east of Cappadocia and south of the town of Kayseri. Erciyes is 25 km away from Kayseri. If you take plane to Kayseri, it will be about 30-40 minutes by bus from the Kayseri Airport to reach Erciyes. The nearest airport is a 45 minutes drive away.

Erciyes ski resort is situated on a plateau about 220 miles southeast of Ankara, Turkey’s capital, and it straddles the eastern slope of Erciyes Volcano. The closest town to the resort with an airport is Kayseri, 20 miles to the north. Options for getting to Kayseri include flying to Ankara and then driving or taking a domestic flight to Kayseri and then catching a bus to the resort.

If you fly to Ankara and hire a car, the journey is only a 5-hour drive via Kırıkkale, Kırşehir and the D-260 highway. Those coming from Istanbul should head for Ankara on the O4 motorway.

There are services, including night trains, from Istanbul to Ankara, from where trains continue onto Kayseri via Kırıkkale and Yerköy.

From Kayseri Airport, take the 38-75 to Kayseri town, from where the 38-28 continues to Erciyes village; the ski resort is well sign posted from here. Buses and taxis also run from Kayseri Airport to Erciyes ski resort.

ACCOMMODATION
Erciyes has one large hotel, the Erciyes Dedeman Hotel, which features numerous smart rooms and an indoor pool and sauna, while there are also two ski hostels. For alternative lodgings, there are plenty of villages in the area and the town of Kayseri has thousands of beds available. Apres-ski at Erciyes ski resort is provided by coffee shops, restaurants and a few bars, while Kayseri has much more to offer.

Hazarbaba Mountain has an altitude of 2347 m with an average snow depth of between 100 - 200 cm. The season runs between December and March, and has a terrestrial climate. Ski Center has an altitude of 1850 m.

Located in the Hazarbaba Mountains in the Elazığ district, this resort was only opened in 1999 and is still being improved.

Elazığ is on the western side of the Eastern Anatolian region, and is well connected by road to all over the country. There are daily flights from Ankara, and three trains a week from Istanbul. The Hazarbaba Ski Centre is 25 km south of Elazığ, and 6 km from Sivrice, and there are private vehicles to the centre.

The resort has a ski lodge and a cafe.

The ski run is around 1.1 km long.

Ski equipment is available for hire, and there are plans to construct accommodation facilities.

The T-bar was recently upgraded, and the ski run improved to cater for all levels of experience.

Mechanical facilities and running tracks
The older T-bar facility was upgraded to 1700 meters in 2000 and the track was improved in order to provide a better skiing environment to beginner and advanced skiers.

Kartalkaya in the Köroğlu Mountains, is another resort for those who like winter sports. It is one of the three best winter sports centers in Turkey. You will find quietness and sportive enthusiasm in Kartalkaya.

The duration of the skiing season is 120 days a year. The skiing area of Kartalkaya is 1800-2221 m high and the most suitable skiing conditions are between 20 December and 20 March. The resort has temperate terrestrial climate and the season runs between December and April. The area of Bitlis gets snow continuously in the winter, which had a depth of 1-2 m. The areas for skiing are Dideban (1821 m) and Sapgör mountains east of the city, and Altınkalbur at the west.

Bitlis is in the far east of the country, in Eastern Anatolia around 20 km south-west of Lake Van, and the skiing area is inside the city.

The city is 1100 km from Ankara, 1504 km from Istanbul, 1465 km from Izmir and around 200 km south of Erzurum. The nearest airports are at Muş (85 km) and Van (160 km). Bitlis can be reached from anywhere in the country by bus.

Facilities
In addition to the ski lodge inside the resort, there is much more accommodation and other services in the city. The resort at Altınkalbur has a T-bar facility 726 m long, and the standard of ski runs is between moderate and difficult.

ZIGANA SKI CENTER

Zigana - Gümüşhane - Turkey

The season is between December and April, and there is an average snow depth of 1.5 m.

After going through the Zigana tunnel 60 km out on the Gümüşhane - Trabzon road, turn east on the gravel road and continue on 3.5 km. From the center of Trabzon to Zigana is 112 km on an asphalt road. Zigana is 60 km south of Trabzon, the closest airport, and just 500 m from the main road leading north of Gümüşhane. There is public and private transport from the ski centre to the city.

This centre lies at an altitude of 1870 m above a pine forested valley. There is a ski-lift, cafeteria and a restaurant. The ski centre has a lodge, a T-bar and baby-lift. The ski run is around 200 m wide, with an average gradient of 20%.

One thing though was that the slopes were too long (4.5 miles). Covered mainly with forest, the ski runs are between altitudes of 1900-2500 m, and covered with grass for most of the year.

The 2032 m. high Zigana Highland is also a ski center. Its infrastructure is completed. Zigana is one of the few places in Turkey where one can ski in the winter and do "grass sledding" in the summer. ELMADAG SKI CENTER

Elmadağ - Ankara - Turkey

It is a big chance that Ankara has it's own ski center about 20 km away from center. It is a small center but on weekends it is full of university students from Ankara. There is a full equipped hotel with a nice restaurant and swimming pool and university's lodges where you can take services. It will be nice to ski there if u are beginner or intermediate level. It has a short pist without obstacles like trees. Unfortunately, the season is limited, I recommend January and February. You can make barbecue and ride horses there.

Elmadağ is 23 km off of Ankara and lies at an altitude of 1,850 meters. The resort is on the northern slopes of Elmadağ between the altitudes of 1500-1850 m. The area is treeless and covered with alpine meadows. The season runs between January and March, with a terrestrial climate, and snow thickness between 30-60 cm.

This is a lovely place to relax, 23 km out of Ankara, to get fresh air and to dine far away from the clamour and air pollution of the city. There is a 10 room (33 beds) hotel, chalets (130 beds), a pleasantly decorated a la carte restaurant, a snack bar/ discotheque, and parking.

There are government-owned ski lodges, plus two restaurants, an indoor swimming pool, sauna, disco and restaurants. The T-bar has a 548 m route, and the ski run is at an easy/medium level.

Facilities at the resort are minimal but include the essentials, such as ski and snowboard equipment rentals and lessons from qualified instructors. Elmadağ ski resort has a well-equipped hotel with 33 beds and a sauna, swimming pool, a la carte restaurant and disco, while the university’s lodges provide an additional 130 beds.

Located in central northwest Turkey, not far from Ankara, Elmadağ ski resort is a small ski destination suitable for beginners and is easily accessible from the nation’s capital city. Lying on the northern slopes of the Elmadağ mountain range, Elmadağ offers an exciting break from the city, even if you are an expert carver.

If you have a car, there are plenty of sights worth visiting in Ankara’s environs, such as Gölbaşı Lake on the Konya road to the south of the city and nearby Incek, a beautiful green area. Meanwhile, Karagöl Lake just north of the city is also worth a look. Ankara is also surrounded by delightful forests where walking can be enjoyed and there are also several thermal springs within a short drive of the city.

The Elmadağ Ski Resort, which is on the northern slopes of Elmadağ mountain range, is a few kilometers south-east of the centre of Ankara, which has made it more popular. Elmadağ ski resort is conveniently located near Ankara on the northern slopes of Elmadağ Mountain at an altitude of about 5,000 feet and is an ideal ski destination for beginners wanting to escape the bustle of the city.

The ski season is between January and March and the snow thickness is between 30 and 60 cm. There are ski houses belonging to certain universities in Ankara, and a ski slope which is 900 meters long and 250 meters wide. There is a T-bar that is 548 meters long and has a capacity of 720 people per hour. The tracks are of easy and medium difficulty levels.

There is only one treeless slope at Elmadağ ski resort, which is suitable for beginners, while lower intermediates can also strut their stuff here. The slope is nearly 3,000-feet long and is fed by one teleski ski lift. Elmadağ ski resort only has one piste that is aimed at beginner to intermediate level skiers and snowboarders. It is 820 feet wide and just over half a mile long.

There isn't much scope at Elmadağ ski resort for alternative winter activities apart from horseback riding, but the hotel does provide a heated swimming pool and sauna for residents and apres-ski can be enjoyed at the hotel’s restaurant, bar and disco. Elmadağ town has additional apres-ski enticements.

There are ski instructors available to teach skiing and snowboarding at Elmadağ ski resort and there are ski rentals; while accommodation is provided by a good hotel and a number of university lodges.

The ski season at Elmadağ ski resort runs from December to April and is best enjoyed between January and March when snow conditions are most favorable.

The best snow at Elmadağ ski resort can be found in February and March during the December to April ski season, while cheaper chairlift passes and hotel rates can be had in April. If you are already in Ankara, taking a shuttle to Elmadağ is the most practical way of getting here, while if you are staying in Istanbul, it is a 4-hour drive to the resort.

TRANSPORT
Elmadağ ski resort is just over 20 miles east of Ankara and 300 miles southeast of Istanbul and is accessible by road, while part of the journey can be made by rail. The most convenient way of getting here is to fly from Istanbul to Ankara and hire a car for the final stretch; while some visitors choose to drive all the way from Istanbul or take a bus or train from Istanbul to Ankara, then travel by road to the resort.

If you are driving from Istanbul, take the O-4 towards Ankara, from where the D-200 continues east to Elmadağ; Elmadağ ski resort is well sign posted. From Ankara-Esenboğa Airport, take the D-140 highway south to the O-20 ring road east, from where the D-200 goes to Elmadağ. The D-200 runs all the way to Elmadağ from the centre of Ankara.

Ankara-Esenboğa Airport receives regular daily flights from Istanbul at a good price and the flight time is less than 1 hour. Shuttle buses run from the airport via the city to Elmadağ ski resort.

HOTEL
The distance between Mount Bozdağ Ski Center and our Hotel is 18 km. Our hotel is right on the shore of this lovely lake and it is surrounded by 10 hectare meadows. There are 33 rooms with a capacity of 80 beds. Each room has central heating system, hot water, bathroom, tv and a hair dryer.

We have out and in-doors restaurants, meeting room, sauna, soccer and volleyball playing fields. At breakfast and dinner buffets we mainly serve local meals and arrange music and entertainment programs.

GARDEN
We also provide Ödemiş style kebap, marinated meat and barbecue for our visitors for the day. We serve tripe soup, pop corn and worm wine to have our guests enjoy the camp fire at nights.

Heliskiing from Turkey Heliski

We have two ideal locations from which to ski :
The first is the Kaçkar range, North East Turkey, close to the Black Sea. We have chosen an awesome stretch, some 100 km long by 35 km wide. The highest summit is 3.900 m with the average vertical drop between 700 m and 1.200 m. The range is reputed for its good snow and the stability of the snow cover due to the proximity of the ocean.

The second is located to the south east of the country within the Taurus Mountains in the Aladağ Range, in close proximity to the Mediterranean Sea. The highest summit in this sector has an altitude of 3.700 m with a greater average vertical drop of 1.000 m to 1.500 m. The Taurus Mountains, whilst not as steep as the Kaçkar range, benefit from more sun. No stay will be organized in this mountain in 2007.

Our structure is built to allow you to live your dream in the best conditions:

No inertia due to the size of the groups.

Independence within the groups

The "STANDARD" package
We take a maximum of 4 groups of 4 people per week. Each group is lead by a guide. One helicopter takes the groups in rotation.

The "PRIVATE" package
One helicopter for one group. With this arrangement, you will benefit from a greater flexibility in the choice of slopes on the summit and you will be completely independent in the organization of your stay. We take one private group of 1 to 8 people per week, with 2 guides leading the party regardless of the size of the group.

Staff at the base:
2 helicopter pilots.
1 mechanic.
6 mountain guides.
1 base manager for the organization and the coordination of the hotel and the land infrastructure.

The helicopters :
The helicopters, Ecureuil B2 or B3, belong to the company Air Zermatt. They performed well in
the mountain environment and have a 5 passengers capacity.

The guides :
The guides are all members of the UIAGM and have a wealth of heliski experience, having worked in several other heliski operations around the world. Some of them are also helicopter pilots and professional rescuers.

The pilots :
The pilots have the same quality of experience and performance level; they are Swiss and work regularly for heliski operations.

SECURITY

Briefing : Each stay begins with a briefing of safety considerations for an enjoyable heliskiing experience. Every skier receives a leaflet with all needed information. The procedure of loading and unloading the helicopter are part of this briefing. Practical session will follow the theory in which you'll practice using your avalanche transceivers.

OTHER ACTIVITIES
A thermal spring spa with water at 40 degrees is located adjacent to the hotel….the perfect way to end a long days skiing.

YOUR EQUIPMENT

Clothing
As the climate is similar to that of the Alps, your usual skiwear will be adequate for your week’s heliskiing.

As the helicopter rides are shorter than those on chairlifts and it is not cold inside the helicopter, you will find that you do not get as cold as you do when skiing in a station. Your gloves however will become wet far quicker as you need to clear the snow off your skis and boards in order to pack them into the ski pods. We advise you to take one or two extra pairs of gloves as well as a pair of mittens.

Bring along strong sun protection and don't forget a decent pair of goggles, the powder is deep and even in good weather ordinary sunglasses will rapidly become clogged with powder.

Ski or snowboard
We recommend you adapt your technical equipment for powder skiing and either use the skis supplied by the base or bring your own.
We do not supply snowboards, so please bring your own snowboard, adapted for powder conditions - the longer the better.
Each base is equipped to be able to perform minor repairs to ski and snowboard equipment.

Shopping
A small shop at each base will be able to supply forgotten or lost equipment such as goggles, gloves, sunscreen, beanies,etc.

The club hosts some 11 ski- and snowboard instructors to instruct ONE Hotel Kartanesi guests and their children in skiing and snowboarding in group lessons.

All instructors are degree holders of the courses of the Turkish Skiing Federation, pedagogically trained masters of their profession. They participate in international events as athletes, trainer and officials and thus form a group whose characteristics reach far above the field of sports. They are coordinated via two reservation centres in our hotel per wireless to meet the demands of our guests on skiing and snowboard lessons.

SKI COURSES
1 very difficult, 6 difficult, 8 average and 10 easy ski courses are available and the highest ski point is at 2.232 meter. Except for these, our customers can ski at 2.543 meters when reached by a helicopter (heliski). This ski should be performed under the inspection of a sport trainer and air conditions should always be taken into account.

SKI TRAINERS
Those who are registered under the Ski Trainers Foundation and having a ski trainer license can teach skiing. Courses taken from unlicensed and unregistered people may be dangerous and such actions are also restricted by laws. Contact with ski teachers can be held via the ski school and registered teachers and also via contact offices within the foundation. Ski schools are private organizations and serve collective education.

SKI EQUIPMENTS
In our country, all ski equipment is available in conformance with daily conditions. All ski equipment brands are also available in our hotel. You can buy or rent such equipment from the ski halls. In addition, snow motor rent service, today’s very popular fashion, is available in our hotel.

Sarıkamış, "Turkey's Insburg", which has got one of the longest skiing pastes of the World, is 50 km from Kars Airport. When you depart from 08:30 with Turkish Airlines from Istanbul, at 10:30 you can wear your skis and start skiing on one of the most beautiful pastes of the World.

One of the most important characteristics that distinguishes Sarıkamış from other pastes is the type of the snow and its natural beauties. The crystal snow, which is extremely convenient for skiing sport and found only in the Alps, is found in Sarıkamış.

Although the most part of the year is sunny, the snow remains the same as the first day and gives the skiers the pleasure of skiing in safety. We say 'in safety' because there is no risk of avalanche in Sarıkamış.

Since the pastes are surrounded by the Scotch pine Forests, they are also guarded against the wind. Sarıçam Skiing Facilities, which is located very closed to Hotel Çamkar, is the largest skiing facility of Turkey and the third of the World with its computer equipped telesiege system with the capacity of 2400 pax per hour.

In Cıbıltepe, which has the altitude of 2700 m, there are 2 laps with 5 pastes with suitable difficulty levels for all skiers. First lap is 2400 m long and has an ideal slope for the beginners. Situated within the confines of the spectacular Ilgaz Dağı National Park, Ilgaz Dağı ski resort is inexpensive and also rates highly in the choices of accommodation available at the resort.
Ilgaz Dağı ski resort is situated at 5,971 feet above sea level and has all the essential ski and snowboard facilities to help beginners on their way. There are qualified ski and snowboard instructors here as well as equipment hire and small markets with a range of ski products for sale. With 500 beds situated at the base in several hotels, lodges and chalets, the resort has ample accommodation and a good selection of apres-ski activities.

For such a small ski resort, Ilgaz Dağı has a surprising range of pastes suitable for all abilities up to advanced level, but with the emphasis firmly on beginners. Two ski lifts including a double chairlift and a t-bar provide access to the slopes up the 590-feet vertical to a height of 6,560 feet at a rate of hundreds of people per hour.

The ski season at Ilgaz Dağı ski resort runs from December to April and the best time to ski here is in February, while reduced rates are available at the beginning and end of the season. The nearest airport is at Ankara and for convenience it is easier to fly here and hire a car; while driving from Istanbul save can be a money saver.

There are several runs at Ilgaz Dağı ski resort that mainly appeal to beginners, but also to those who are more experienced, due to the excellent off-piste powder. The mere 590-feet vertical keeps slopes shallow and beginners confident, while a double chairlift and a T-bar feed the slopes to 6,560 feet.

Apart from the skiing and snowboarding at Ilgaz Dağı ski resort there isn't that much else in the way of winter sports unless you're into hiking or hunting. There are saunas and other wellness facilities at some of the top hotels where you will also find apres-ski entertainment.

Facilities at the ski centre are the bare essentials for getting on the slopes in the right attire and with confidence; there are well-trained ski and snowboard instructors, equipment rental shops and ski retail markets, while chalets, hotels and lodges provide beds for 500 patrons.

SEASON
Ilgaz Dağı ski resort receives its best snow from December to April and you can find the cheapest rates here in December and April. While buses run all of the way to Ilgaz Dağı, flying to Istanbul and driving from there is the most practical travel option.

TRANSPORT
Situated between Kastamonu and Çankırı, 40 km from Kastamonu at the junction of the Istanbul-Kastamonu, Ankara-Kastamonu roads. One can reach the ski resort from the road separated from approximately 25 km north of the Ilgaz residential area which is the intersection of Istanbul-Kastamonu highway and Ankara -Kastamonu highway. The arrival to the ski resort from the city center is available privately.

Ilgaz Dağı ski resort is 300 miles east of Istanbul and 110 miles northeast of Ankara and lies within the outstanding Ilgaz Dağı National Park in northwest Turkey. Getting here is straightforward as there aren't very many viable transport options. The easiest means of transport is to fly to Istanbul and drive from there, while flying onto Ankara and hiring a car there is even more convenient.

If you are driving from Istanbul’s Atatürk International Airport, expect a 6-hour journey covering 310 miles. The route goes via the O-4 motorway east to Gerede and then the D-100 takes you to Eskişehir, from where the Ilgaz Dağı ski resort road heads north for 28 miles. From Ankara’s Esenboğa International Airport, drive northeast via the towns of Çubuk, Orta and Kurşunlu on the D-100 and then head east to Eskişehir, a 3-hour journey.

The train station at Kurşunlu is only 35 miles from Ilgaz Dağı ski resort and there are regular connections. Once at Kurşunlu, you still need to find road transport to Ilgaz Dağı.

Atatürk International Airport is Turkey’s major air hub, receiving flights from all over the world and infrequent buses run from here to Ilgaz Dağı, while driving yourself is a more convenient option. You also have the option of taking a short flight from Istanbul to Ankara and driving from there to Ilgaz Dağı.

Ski Center
Bozdağ Skiing Facility was established in Bozdağ, which is within the borders of Ödemiş sub province of Izmir. Bozdağ, is both of the name of a mountain and also the name of the skiing center. The road which comes out of the district and continues up to the summit of the mountain, where Bozdağ Skiing Center is located.
It is possible to ski from December until March. The thickness of snow is between 80-120 cm. under normal winter conditions. Mediterranean climate prevails in the region. The height of the skiing area is between 1528 m. - 2157 m. Especially the northern side of the mountain serves as an appropriate medium for skiing practises with Alp discipline. The skiing center has become a place to which people come for daily visits. It has a car park for 1500 vehicles.

From Izmir - Torbalı : 150 km, From Izmir - Salihli : 130 km. It is possible to reach the skiing center by bus or private vehicles from the city center. SKI RYNS

Soon we will invite you to whitest new destinations for a snow-safari with us.We started to perform this new sport 3 years ago.

Kitesnowboarding is as fun as kitesurfing and as snowboarding. It’s so attractive and colorfull.
